Advocacy

The Mississippi Psychiatric Association advocates on behalf of our patients and our profession. We work to represent and advance the practice of psychiatry in Mississippi through education, networking, policy-making and legislative process. We encourage our members to stay informed and involved. As the voice of modern psychiatry,  the American Psychiatric Association works to advance the profession and promote the highest quality care for patients and their families. Through its advocacy efforts, APA educates the public about mental health, psychiatry and successful evidence-based treatments. Advocacy initiatives encompass legislative, regulatory, and political affairs. MPA has worked to build relationships with elected officials at the state and federal levels.Our Association maintains a presence at the State Capitol during every legislative session and monitors important out of session meetings.
